This year, we did things a little different and I feel that it was a HUGE success! In the past, we had the enrichment cluster displays in the cafeteria and mini-gym. The students would tour with their parents and class to read about what each cluster achieved. This was nice, but it did not give the students ownership over the showcase, nor did it give the students an opportunity to verbally share what they learned.
We decided that needed to change. This year, our students became the docents for the showcase. They were in charge of setting up their displays in the morning with the enrichment cluster facilitator. Each student was assigned a thirty minute time shift throughout the morning. During their assigned time, students would stand at their display and communicate with parents, students and community members who came to tour the showcase.
It was amazing to see our students speak with so much knowledge and pride about their enrichment cluster journey. They worked as teams at the displays, taking turns talking and sharing. You could see on their faces that they took the docent job very seriously. The students took ownership of enrichment cluster and the showcase display. They were now the experts and were able to communicate with others what they had learned. Communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking...that is what enrichment clusters are all about. And this is another thing that sets LME apart.

Looks like it went well! Having the kids as docents gives it a whole different feel. Congratulations!
