Mrs. Donna Lee's kindergarten class: Science experiments are a popular choice for the Lovebugs and enrichment. So for our E-slot today, we did a fun science experiment mixing the primary colors to make the secondary colors. First, we used test tubes, water, and food coloring. Then we applied our knowledge of mixing colors to balls of playdough. Watching science come alive before your very eyes is really fun! As all good scientist do, we recorded our data in our science journals.
Mrs. Myrick's 5th grade class: Mrs. Myrick showed the class a video about the fires in Bastrop, Texas. After watching the film a student said, "We should do something!" The class then decided to write cards of encouragement to the students who will be receiving new school supplies. The cards will be a part of their "care package".
Mrs. Wenum's 2nd grade class: The Wonderfully Wise Fish watched a cool power point on interesting animals of the sea. Our favorite discovery was the Blob fish. He's crazy looking! Then, we created clay sea creatures. This was a perfect activity for us since animals and clay were both top 5 interests in our class.
First grade classes: First Grade has turned their hallways into an underwater paradise for a total learning experience! The students were able to use their strong interest in arts and crafts and science to design big fish, using their knowledge of symmetry and attributes. Every fish, like every first grader, is unique and beautiful! Please come take a look.
Mrs. Sorrell's 5th grade class: My students used Publisher software to create cards to send to Central Texas firefighters thanking them for their hard work and service as they've been battling the fires in our area this week.
Continuing to develop the whole child.....
This was very cool to read. I love hearing about what is going on in the different classes at LME.
